It isn't about how fast you complete your goal. It's having the courage to START that matters.

My Story

I never defined myself as a runner, or an athlete. I enjoyed being active. Swimming, biking, hiking were all activities that appealed to me. I ran, but it wasn't something that I did regularly until about 14 years ago, when running became an easy way to get out of the house and get some exercise.  I started out slow, walking a lot and I wasn't very consistent in how often I got out there.

One day, something just clicked and I could run farther and it felt easier. I realized running made me think clearer, allowed me to shed the stress of the day and made me feel better in general. I made changes to my eating habits to fuel my run.

Then my youngest son was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. While he is thriving and cancer free now, his diagnosis and treatment propelled me even more towards research on health, nutrition and the benefits of exercise. I researched everything that was available about his treatment, about how to make sure he was getting all the nutrients he needed and how my family could improve our eating habits. As I began to wade through the sea of information that lives on the internet and in the library and book stores, I noticed the overwhelming amount of information available and how difficult it was to learn what is correct and what is just a marketing ploy.  I figured I wasn't alone and in talking to others, I knew for sure, I wasn't.

All of this led me to combine my passion for helping others, my love of running and fitness with my quest for good nutrition into becoming a Certified Run Coach, Personal Trainer, Health Coach and Cancer Exercise Specialist.  I truly enjoy helping people reach their goals, conquer challenges and keep moving forward!
